Kauai Day Five

My sister really wanted to do a hike with us, and so we decided to explore the east side of the island this time. We headed toward Wailua, and stopped at a beautiful waterfall on the way up to the canyon. I cannot remember the name, but I believe it starts with an O, and goes something like Opaeka’a Falls (?). Upon researching the hike, I read that it was going to be muddy, and that did not disappoint. We also knew there was a good probability of rain during the hike as well. The kids were thrilled at the possibility of water, and it did not disappoint in that category either. There’s a huge creek that we promised the kids could go in once we completed the hike. I don’t think we have ever been on a more beautiful, green, lush hike in our lives. This one wasn’t as steep as the other day, and we just took our time and enjoyed it. At the top, the views were breathtaking. Aaron also picked his first strawberry guava and enjoyed that as well. You’ll see in some of the photos the kids holding hands, they were a “team” once again and finished together. Love them.

That night we went to dinner at Plantation Gardens, and I can say that it was my most favorite tomato salad on the island.

Just be forewarned, I took the most photos on this day, and soon you will see why.
